227 Montgomery elevates the level of quality architecture within its historic context. The original structure, a 4-story brick townhouse built in 1880, presented a unique challenge: to adapt the space into duplex apartments that meet the demands of modern living while preserving the charm of the original facade.
Our design team focused on resurfacing the facade and thoughtfully reimagining the interior spaces, blending the historic building with contemporary design elements. Materials were carefully layered to create a rich, modern aesthetic. New wood windows and frames were added to enhance the building’s energy efficiency while maintaining its classic character. We believe that true beauty lies not only in the design itself but also in the thoughtful selection of materials.
The front garden was redesigned to maximize its potential, incorporating a water recycling system to foster a new green space. Above, the green roof features a highly coveted 750-square-foot private terrace with lush plantings, glass handrails, and breathtaking views of the city skyline, offering residents a serene outdoor retreat in the heart of the urban environment.
