The mosque's design embodies a thoughtful integration of tradition, modernity, and functionality. The structure consists of two volumes: one oriented toward the qibla, reflecting spiritual alignment, and the other aligned with the natural orientation of the lot, ensuring practical harmony with the site. While parking at the front was not the ideal choice, it was implemented to comply with civil engineering recommendations, optimizing accessibility without compromising the site’s overall design.
The ground floor features the men's prayer area, classrooms, a space for ghusl (ritual purification), and a dedicated area for the imam. This arrangement centralizes essential religious and educational activities, creating a dynamic space for worship and learning.
Beneath the main level, a partially underground floor houses a gathering area and a kitchen. Taking advantage of the lot's natural slope, this level allows for natural light and ventilation, providing a comfortable and inviting space for community events and shared meals.
The top floor is dedicated to the women's prayer area, offering privacy and tranquility. While Islamic traditions historically differentiate roles and spaces by gender, the design aims for modern standards of spatial quality and accessibility. The prayer hall is illuminated by seven large windows, symbolizing the significance of the number seven in Islamic culture, representing divine harmony, the seven heavens, and the seven Earths mentioned in the Quran. The façade is further adorned with Arabic inscriptions, embedding spiritual messages that celebrate faith and unity.
This mosque serves as a vibrant hub for worship, education, and community connection, as we try to bring it into the 21st century while honoring its cultural heritage.
