The design concept revolves around simplicity of form and the minimal use of materials. The stark, raw textures of stone and plaster contrast with the purity of glass and the technological sophistication of aluminum, resulting in an elegant composition of abstract white boxes. The aim was to create a more ambitious aesthetic that could replace the conventional iconicity of the garden city.
The house fosters an intimate connection between the exterior and interior. The volumes flank the garden, enclosing and giving scale to the outdoor space, which enhances the sense of privacy. A traditional "veranda" space, where the living and dining areas meet, opens up to the outdoors. A fully glazed wall allows the indoor space to flow almost seamlessly into the exterior. The private spaces are placed on the upper level, where two distinct zones separate the parents' areas from the children's, ensuring privacy and functionality.
