The design for the Zapala Judicial Complex focuses on functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability. The building is designed to integrate harmoniously with its surroundings and address the community's needs while promoting environmentally responsible practices. Its strategic location enhances urban revitalization, offering public spaces that connect users and local residents. The design emphasizes human scale and accessibility, creating welcoming, non-intimidating spaces that facilitate access to justice. The building's form, inspired by the surrounding mountainous landscape, incorporates organic shapes and materials that blend with the environment.
Sustainability is a core principle, with features like passive design, solar panels, rainwater collection, geothermal heating, and the use of local, low-impact materials such as adobe and pressed wood. These elements work together to reduce the building’s environmental footprint while ensuring energy efficiency. The complex is organized into four blocks with flexible layouts, allowing for future adaptations. The building’s integration with the natural surroundings, including green roofs and strategically placed trees, ensures it serves as a model of sustainable architecture, while providing a space that fosters transparency, justice, and community engagement.
