Located just a short distance from downtown London, this tower represents a pioneering vision for adaptable architecture. Its design is based on the concept of growth, both in terms of its appearance and functionality, allowing for continuous alterations, additions, and removals over time.
Drawing inspiration from the infinite organic growth sequence of bismuth crystals, the structure expands in all directions, optimizing future programmatic opportunities. This growth model embraces flexibility, accommodating the unpredictable demands of future development.
The building features a pre-fabricated modular system that enables expansion both vertically and horizontally. Each tower is supported by its own core, a vertical service tunnel that evolves in sync with the building. Modular cubes of various sizes can be added or removed around the core, making the tower a living, adaptable structure.
An organic, porous facade screen wraps the building, regulating sunlight while also fostering the growth of local plants. As the plants continue to grow, the screen gradually transforms into a green curtain wall, blurring the lines between the building and the surrounding city, and contributing to the urban ecosystem.
